The event, organised by Bemerton Heath Community Centre and the Twinning Association, was hailed as a huge success by all parties especially the children.

Mark Annetts, Assistant Manager for the Centre said, “We’ve been running three youth clubs on Bemerton Heath each week for a year and half now and they’ve proved a great success and are very popular. The clubs provide local young people with a place to meet and enjoy a game of pool or simply chill out. This was the first time we’ve had the opportunity to invite guest and it was great to have young people from our twin city. Everyone had a great time and the weather was just perfect so a big thanks to everyone who put in the effort to make this a great evening”

While the forthcoming World Cup was a hot topic, it was teamwork and co-operation that prevailed as the children enjoyed games of dodge ball and basketball as well as a quiz on famous places in Germany and England.

The event was rounded off with a BBQ cooked by the Bemerton Heath Residents Association.

The Centre owned and managed by Salisbury City Council runs a variety of Youth facilities, fun days, homework clubs, adult learning courses and provides advice and information to residents of Bemerton Heath and beyond.
